The Kids Are Alright

I did a day shift at the part district yesterday because for some reason the schools are giving the kids an entire week off just for Thanksgiving on Thursday.

Figures.

This is Chloe, aka Cindy Loo Who.

So the plan for the day was to cook a pizza casserole, bread sticks, and pumpkin pie for dessert. For 30 kids plus counselors.

I can not cook worth shit and this was known by the director on duty so I was given the job of playing games in the gym with 1 of the 3 groups as they alternated between the gym, kitchen, and room for cooking the food, dessert, or playing scatter.

I like playing games, I like scatter, I enjoy pelting kids with dodgeballs from across the gym.

That's all well and fine, but not when I have to do it for 4 hours straight.

One group would play for a little over an hour and then tire of it and just kind of relax in the gym, and such was my enthusiasm. But then group #2 would come in and be totally siked to play! And it was at this point, when group #2 entered, that I realized I had a good 2.5 hours left of playing this fucking game.

It finally ended and when I thought I was going to get to enjoy my pizza casserole, as much as that's humanly possible since it turned out to be fucking gross, I found out I actually had to baby sit the much littler kids while their counselor went on an extended lunch break. We don't normally get breaks, especially not for an hour, but he's had his fingers in a few pies... or something like that.

Here we have Kevin and Angelo who decided to dress up before I even got in the room.

Kevin is wearing his favorite tiara, a decorative kimono, and is accessorized with the latest little mermaid purse.

Angelo is wearing a native American headdress, and a pleather biker vest, also accessorized with a pink Disney princess purse.

I thought this puppet was awesome so I decided to take a picture of it, but when I looked at the picture I saw something way cooler than a puppet.

In the background you can see a young boy swinging a baby stroller around the room with other kids in close quarters with him. And what does the one person in charge do? Why he takes a pictures of a fucking giraffe puppet on his cell phone. Nice one.

Once again in the awesome job department, this little girl Danielle asked me to help he take that sweatshirt off and it got stuck and I thought it was funny. She started running around trying to show off and ran into another little kid unleashing a flood of tears.

This is the little girl Danielle ran into.

She was BALLING seconds before I took the picture because he head hurt, but when I told her I was going to take her picture and to smile she quickly forgot about how bad it hurt.

I got to go home a few minutes early that day, and found out I would also get off the next day.

That meant after Wednesday morning I would be done with work until Monday, awesome.

And then of course as I'm typing this I remembered that I am actually working on "Black Friday" at Gamestop from 9AM-5PM.

Great. Be sure to check back for updates on that one.
